Week of 9/7

 3H Weekly Blog Post:

We are having a lot of fun cleaning up and organizing the outdoor classroom during AM and PM recesses. We have put up tarps for our outdoor bathroom, have relined all pathways with new sticks and are "weed whacking" to clear new play spaces.

We began the EL Education ELA curriculum this week and have read two books about overcoming learning challenges. The first was "Waiting for the Biblioburro" and the second "Rain School". We will be digging deep into the moral of the stories and connecting it to the guiding question: "Why are books, education, and school so important?"

We are also beginning the first math unit of the year: Multi Digit Addition and Subtraction. We will be reviewing strategies from second grade and learning some new and potentially more efficient strategies in the coming weeks.

Here are some pictures from the week! The first is of our first three Standing O's: Quinn V, Lilly L, and Rayna N. They have gone above and beyond in the first weeks of school to follow the group plan, be caring friends, and responsible learners.

Best and have a good weekend,

Jennie Hastings
