  3H Weekly Blog Post: We are having a lot of fun cleaning up and organizing the outdoor classroom during AM and PM recesses. We have put up tarps for our outdoor bathroom, have relined all pathways with new sticks and are "weed whacking" to clear new play spaces. We began the EL Education ELA curriculum this week and have read two books about overcoming learning challenges. The first was "Waiting for the Biblioburro" and the second "Rain School". We will be digging deep into the moral of the stories and connecting it to the guiding question: "Why are books, education, and school so important?"  We are also beginning the first math unit of the year: Multi Digit Addition and Subtraction. We will be reviewing strategies from second grade and learning some new and potentially more efficient strategies in the coming weeks.  Here are some pictures from the week!   A really fantastic week in third grade! A few things that we accomplished this week: Hung up the hammocks in their tree spots Reviewed Second Step lessons about what it means to be a responsible learner and friend Wrote about their Third Grade Hopes and Dreams  Successfully logged into computers and posted on Seesaw! Gearing up and getting so excited!

Hello there! My name is Jennifer Hastings and I will be your child's teacher this year! I look forward to working with all of you and getting to know you, your child, and family. Families hold the most integral part in a student's learning and I feel  privileged  to be added to your child's "village". It is a priority of mine, as well as our DBS community, that families are included in all of the events, learning, and growing that happens here. This blog is a way to keep informed about your third grader's day in 3H. This blog will host notes and pictures to keep you up to date with what is happening in the classroom, indoor and outdoor.
